 Garden Policies and Rules

Our goal is to keep the garden neat and safe for the enjoyment of all gardeners, and to make a positive impression on people visiting the garden for enjoyment and reflection.

  1. Each gardener is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of their garden plot and will help to maintain the common areas of the garden. Watering, weeding, harvesting and any other garden related maintenance are all the responsibility of the gardener. Gardeners may arrange for other gardeners to water their plots.

·         Keep your plot and the area around it weed-free so seeds don’t spread to other gardens.

·         Keep your plants inside your plot boundaries to keep paths clear for hoses and other gardeners.

·         Only use organic products that are safe for people, pets and wildlife. The application of herbicides (weed killers) to the garden plots is prohibited.

·         Conserve water when possible, coil hoses after using, and mulch when appropriate. Unattended watering is not permitted.

·         Keep trash and litter out of the plot, as well as from adjacent pathways and fences.

·         Plant tall crops where they will not shade neighboring plots.

·         Pick only your own crops unless given permission by another plot user.

·          Clean and return tools.

  1. Each gardener will be given one key to the garden and the storage bin for access to tools and watering equipment.

·         Gardeners are responsible for bringing that key each time they work in the garden.

·         Keep garden gate and storage bin locked at all times.

  1. A representative of the Garden Committee will inspect all garden plots periodically. Renters of plots that have not been planted or are weedy will be notified. Failure to respond within 14 days will result in forfeiture of the plot.

  1. Assignment of garden plots will be awarded by a lottery system. Preference for next year's plots will be given to the current year's participants first.
